A Lady Pumpkin Life Lesson: “The Mischief of Small Joys”
Lady Pumpkin has a talent for discovering joy in places most Witches overlook. This afternoon, she trotted through the garden with the kind of delightful determination only a tiny Poodle can possess, her ears bouncing like little lanterns. She paused beneath the blueberry bush, her sacred ‘safe‑keeping place’, and inspected her growing collection of magickal sticks. Each one chosen with precision and great seriousness, each one placed with the pride of a fluffy little Pupwick Pupper who knows exactly what she’s doing.
There is a certain kind of whimsy in her ways, a kind of soft mischief that never causes trouble but always makes me smile. Lady Pumpkin teaches that joy doesn’t need to be grand or OTT. It can be a single perfect stick, a gust of wind that ruffles your fur, or the discovery of a new scent carried in from the old farmer’s field. Joy can be tiny, silly, or even unexpected, or it could be sparkley and still powerful enough to brighten the whole cottage.
As she arranged her sticks, Lady Pumpkin glanced back at me with that knowing look she gives when she’s about to impart a lesson. And there it was: magick and delight live in the little things. In the way the leaves rustle. In the warmth of a tiny Dragon, snoozing in sunbeam, or in the soft thumping of paws against the beautiful, dark, rich, brown Mother Earth. She doesn’t chase joy; she simply notices it, gathers it, and tucks it into her day like a treasure.
So today’s lesson is this: Let yourself be charmed by small things. Let your spirit giggle at the unexpected, & let your heart collect tiny joys the way Lady Pumpkin collects her magickal sticks, proudly, intentionally, and with a sparkle in your eye.
Lady Pumpkin does this without effort. And somehow, her little joys always grow into something much bigger.
Bright Magickal Blessings to you from
