The autumn winds have begun their gentle wandering through Hearthwick‑Hollow™, brushing against the cottage windows with that familiar cool whisper that signals the season’s shift. They swirl through the garden path, tugging playfully at the blueberry bush and scattering acorns across the mossy stones. Lady Pumpkin is completely delighted by this, as she scrambles joyfully after each acorn we kick for her, crunching them open with triumphant little snaps before discarding them and waiting eagerly for the next one. Her joyful excitement is its own kind of seasonal blessing, a tiny familiar’s celebration of Autumn’s arrival.
Inside the cottage, the kitchen, always the warm heart of our home, glows softly in the early Autumn light. The lamps cast their honey‑gold warmth across the wooden kitchen counters, catching and reflecting on the jars, the woven pumpkin, the dried flowers, turning each object into a quiet altar of comfort.

Before any cooking begins, I pause in the center of the kitchen, breathing in the mingled scents of dried herbs as I focus and open my witch senses. I strike a match and light a single candle, a soft flame offered to Goddess Hestia, to my mom, and to my grandmother nanny. It’s a ritual older than the cottage itself, a thread of devotion woven through generations of women who kept their hearths with love and knowing. The candle’s glow joins the lamplight, deepening the sense of sanctuary that the kitchen always holds for me, Sir Henry, and little Lady Pumpkin.

With the blessing lit, the cozying begins, not by Hearthwick Herself, but by me, the Silver Sage Witch of Hearthwick‑Hollow™, moving with familiar purpose through my sacred and beloved kitchen space. I begin to fill the countertops with this evening’s meal ingredients: stinging nettle leaves washed and ready, potatoes peeled, chopped, and waiting, cornmeal resting in its jar like magickal golden sandcorns. Soon the cottage will be filled with the scent of nettle and potato soup, simmering gently on the stove, and cornbread, baking until its crust turns golden and crisp, which will be perfect for dunking into the soup. It’s a delicious, healthy, and nurturing meal, the kind that warms the body and steadies the spirit, meant for chilly evenings when the winds outside grow bold and cold.

Everything feels settled, magickal, and safe. The kitchen is harmonious and alive with the promise of autumn evenings together, candlelit blessings, familiar laughter, and meals that nourish the body AND the spirit. Outside, the winds continue their wandering. Inside, the heart of the cottage glows, steady, warm, and deeply enchanted.
Bright Magickal Autumn Blessings to you,
The Silver Sage Witch of Hearthwick-Hollow™
