Autumn Is Coming To Hearthwick Cottage

September settles over Hearthwick‑Hollow™ like a gentle enchantment, drifting in on cooler winds that curl around cottage chimneys and whisper of the season to come. Summer still lingers in the warm patches of sunlight on the stones and in the last bright herbs and flowers reaching toward the sky, but Autumn is already stepping forward, soft and certain, weaving her presence through the breeze. A Witch can feel the shift deep in her bones, that familiar stirring that says it is time to prepare and settle, time to welcome the most beloved season back home.

In the kitchen, which is always the warm heart of our cottage, we begin the Autumn restocking with a comforting sense of purpose. Many jars of herbs, including rosemary, thyme, sage, and mint, stand ready on their shelves, waiting to be refilled with fresh herbs, gathered and dried with intention. After filling, I close each jar with a quiet Enchanted Blessing and return it to its rightful place with the other jars, lining the shelves like tiny guardians for the colder days ahead. On the table, my new list, formed in looping ink, is ready as our shopping adventure with an abundance of items such as flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, dried berries, honey, oats, and all the cozy ingredients that will soon become warm breads, bubbling stews, and Autumn pies that fill the cottage with sweetness and Magick. The familiar rhythm of preparation feels like a spell in itself, steady and soothing.

Soft blankets are washed and dried in the last warm breeze, folded neatly and stacked in the garderobe, ready to be pulled close on nights when the chilled wind engulfs our cottage. Hot water bottles are checked with care, making sure that the seals and seams of the rubber are tight and reliable because warmth, especially at bedtime, is a cherished kind of magick in Hearthwick‑Hollow™. Candles are gathered in quiet abundance, tucked into drawers and baskets, waiting to glow against the early dusk. Even the wardrobe begins its gentle transformation from summer dresses and light clothing, which are exchanged for heavier skirts and jeans, knitted cardigans, thick, comfy socks, and the familiar cloak that always carries the faint scent of smoke and enchantment.

The Autumn books, those beloved companions, are gathered into a tidy stack, each one chosen for its ability to match the season’s mood. Stories of romance, forests, folklore, hearth‑fires, and magick that feels like home wait patiently for evenings when the wind rages outside and the kettle warms on the stove. There is something deeply comforting about preparing a TBR list for autumn, as though each book is a doorway into a world that mirrors the season’s quiet beauty.

Outside, the gusty winds have begun their playful dance, and Lady Pumpkin feels the shift more keenly than anyone. She becomes energized in that sweet little ‘familiar’ way she has of trotting through the tall grass with her fluffy plume tail held high, collecting her Magickal sticks with great seriousness. She carries them one by one to the giant old blueberry bush beside the farmer’s field, placing each treasure beneath its branches to create her ‘safe‑keeping pile’. It’s her chosen corner, tended with care and pride, and watching her gather each stick with such purpose and joy feels like witnessing a tiny piece of Autumn Aagick unfolding.

And so the days move gently forward, filled with preparation, anticipation, and the quiet thrill of knowing that the most Magickal time of the year is arriving, breeze by breeze, heartbeat by heartbeat. Autumn is coming to Hearthwick‑Hollow™, and every part of life…garden, kitchen, cottage, familiar, and Witch, is ready to welcome her home.

May Autumn’s arrival fill your world with kindness and joyful Magick.

Blessed Be.
